There’s something about markets that ring in the weekend like nothing else, and it is truly a perk of Hobart and its outskirts, that every market youâll head to for a coffee and a wander, means also being flanked by gorgeous mountain views.Â
Itâs also no secret that Tasmania is seeing a growing number of creative mainlanders moving south, and when combined with those born and bred locals who have been cultivating incredible produce and their own craft skills for years; itâs no surprise that this island state’s local markets are well stocked with some excellent finds. Â
Yes, that’s right. The best markets in Hobart are full to the brim with fresh local produce, handcrafted wares, friendly faces and delicious food and drink that run the gamut from scallop pies and sheep whey vodka to luscious Bruny Island oysters and creamy Leatherwood honey stacked high. So come with empty bags and bellies, because these laden stalls will both inspire and delight.Â
